Latin American Idol Craze
It seems that Idol obsession has transcended and traveled oceans and languages. Just like the top rated show American Idol and the unbelievable phenomena it has caused here, the Spanish version of the show, Latin American Idol airs in dozens of Hispanic countries and has become the number one talent reality competition, hosted by Cubano John Secada, Boricua Gustavo Sánchez and Mimi from Mexico.
And just like the A.I. that we hate to admit we love, they’re featuring important musical guests each week, not only to “inspire” the young contestants but also to cross promote their hit singles and the show’s ratings.
We’re learning from the gringos. Television is the way to showcase talent and Coca-Cola soft drinks.
