A Hooker and a Drug Addict?

Having already been accusing of being a Nazi, Kat Von D now has hooker and drug addict allegations to deal with. Well, sort of.

After launching her own line of cosmetics for Sephora, the L.A.-based tattoo artist confessed that her painted look still isn’t accepted by society:

“I think the stigma will never go away. Outside of L.A., I’ve been followed around stores because they think I’m going to steal something. I feel like Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman.” People are scared — they figure, “Oh, you’re tattooed and you’re a girl, you’re either a hooker or a drug addict.” I think our show killed a lot of that. I’ve tattooed 82-year-olds, pastors and soccer moms. It’s pretty awesome.”

I don’t have any tattoos myself, but that’s because I have an irrational fear of needles. And even though my mother’s criticisms are an ever present part of my thinking (”¿Cómo van a ver cuando están viejos?“), far be it for me to judge anyone’s social expression.

Ok, nevermind. Judging people is my livelihood. Weigh in, Lossip readers. Tell us what you think about Kat and her tattoo stigma.

I have 9 tattoos, 2 of which are very visible and I can vouch that I do get the stink-eye from people sometimes, especially at work, just because of them. It’s really stupid.

I don’t have any tatoos, but I am fine with other people having them. They are not representation of who someone is, rather they have personal meaning for them. It’s 2008, people should really lighten up.

I have tattoos, a mother to 4 and a professional at a hospital. I find nothing wrong with them as long as it isn’t overboard. I can see why Kat is stereo-typed into a certain group. But what people need to remember tattoos are just a part of your physical appearance and not your heart which is most important.

It figures she would get hater looks outside of L.A. Middle america has issues with accepting people’s personal expressions. Different kinds of body adornment have been around for ages

I think people with tats should understand that they are putting a certain persona out there when they ink themselves up, there is a stereotype for everyone…but I think to each his own it’s your body do what you want with it

I just wonder what they will look like when they reach their 60’s and the skin starts sagging. It
    won’t be a pretty sight.

I’m 40. My skin’s already sagging but my tattoos look great since I only got them within the last 10 years. :)

i am 47 years old and have had tattoos since i was 15 i manage a large company and now have full sleve tattoos without any regrets at all it tells the story of what i have been through thick and thin Kat is a very hot lady i dont think anyone is going to care a whole hell of a lot what we are going to look like when we get older it will just be the snobs that judge us and thats their problem.

i believe there is still a stereotype with ppl who have tats, but i personally dont believe in them. i believe if thats what u want to do then thats what u want to do. but Kat shouldn’t talk about being judged cuz she hates ppl of the Jewish faith and that says alot about her heart.
