Javier and Penelope Get Independent Spirit Noms
Yesterday’s announcement of nominees for this year’s Independent Spirit Awards featured our two favorite Spaniards, Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz, getting nods for their work in Woody Allen’s latest flick.
The ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’ co-stars were nominated for Best Male Lead and Best Supporting Female. Notably absent from the nominations was the busty queen of mediocrity, Scarlett Johansson. No surprise here.
If any of you haven’t seen this movie yet, we highly recommend it. It makes you want to run away to the hills of Catalonia to surrender yourself to wine, late dinner, and sexy men.
Also nominated are Rosie Perez for her work in “The Take,” and the suspensful immigration drama, “Sangre de mi Sangre.” Click for a complete list of this year’s nominees.

They had good chemistry in the movie. Javier Bardem always give great performances. The only thing that lacked in this movie was Scar Jo, she was a major snooze fest.
