Check out what Andy García said in a recent interview about being classified as a Latino actor:
Alright, here’s what we have to say about this. We see your point, Andy, in saying that actors should be judged by their talent and their devotion to their craft and, in a perfect world, that’s exactly what would happen. But come on! Latino actors have come a long way, but we’re far from the top of the Hollywood food chain. Now’s not the time to separate yourself from your latinidad.
What do you all think? Share your thoughts on Andy’s quote! Are you on board with what the cubano had to say? Or do you think he needs to get in touch with reality?

The countdown until the 9th Annual Latin Grammys may be in its final hours, but last night saw a little preview of the Latin music star power that runs the show, as Gloria Estefan formally received her award for this year’s “Person of the Year.”
But if you think about it, is there any major Latin act that didn’t make it (semi) big without the help of the Estefans? Glorio and her husband Emilio are the straight up Corleone’s of the music industry.
Last night, some of the big names took the stage in Gloria’s honor, including Carlos Santana, Jose Feliciano, cutey John Legend, Andy Garcia, and Patti LaBelle. Then again, there were the random names, like Jon Secada and Kenny G, that also performed last night. Even Gloria’s punky daughter Emily performed a little somethin’ somethin’.
But I guess its all a testament to Gloria’s music biz muscle.

Follow the jump for more pics from last night’s red carpet.

The story of a smooth-talking, straight loving chihuahua named “Papi” comes to the silver screen in Disney’s latest flick, “Beverly Hills Chihuahua.”
The film features talents from all today’s biggest Latino names, with George Lopez, Salma Hayek, Cheech Marin, Andy Garcia, Placido Domingo, and even Eddie “Piolin” Sotello lending their vocal talents to this comedy about a pampered chihuahua from Beverly Hills (voiced by Drew Barrymore) who gets left behind in Mexico after a trip with her owner.
Canine Casanova “Papi” (voiced by George Lopez) swoops in to rescue her, and in the process, helps her reacquaint herself with her Mexican heritage.
What a charming story. Now if only someone would do the same thing for Jessica Alba…

Veteran actor, Andy Garcia was spotted at the Los Angeles premiere of his latest film The Air I Breathe. The film, directed by Jieho Lee, also stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and Brendan Fraser.
The movie is inspired by an old Chinese proverb, and the Cuban caballero plays a drug lord in the movie. He has got the look and the touch for that role!

A woman is suing Andy Garcia for $2.5 million for allegedly basing the movie “The Lost City” off her husband’s life without consent. I’m pretty sure you can’t sue over this, but maybe I’m wrong. It just seems like everyone sues over everything nowadays. Plus, it’s Andy Garcia. The lady doesn’t stand a chance.

The film will co-star Latin stars Salma Hayek, Andy García, George López, Cheech Marín, Paul Rodríguez, Edward James Olmos, and Plácido Domingo.
