As we have said earlier, one thing this year’s fashion week has taught us is that the Latin American Community has now become an inherent part of the Fashion Industry. But not only are the Latino Designers making a mark with their exotic and resourceful creations, it’s actually the Hispanic fashionistas who keep the market in a balance!
Like Ana Ortiz who poses with one of his favorite designers, Venezuelan genius Angel Sanchez, at his Spring 2009 Collection Show for Fashion Week.
Christy Haubegger, president and publisher of Latina Magazine, doesn’t mince words.
“Retailers who need to succeed in the major U.S. markets – LA, New York, Miami – cannot ignore the fact that these cities are 40%, 30% and 60% Hispanic, respectively. To ignore the 12 million Hispanic trendmakers in those three cities alone would be foolish at best, considering the competitive retail and fashion environment.”
Oh, and I’m glad to see that Editorial Televisa published what we’ve been saying ALL ALONG about us, beautiful, intelligent, LATIN women!
“It’s a big mistake to assume that most Hispanics are recently arrived immigrants with weak spending power and a low appetite for fashion, point out multicultural marketers. Thirty percent of Hispanic households earn at least $50,000 annually…”
So stop feeling sorry for us! We work and have style and can afford your ruffles and Louboutins! Well, at least every once in a while (if we win the lottery).
