Banderas Goes Surreal

Antonio Banderas in the works to play Salvador Dalí

If things turn out fine, Antonio Banderas will be portraying outlandish Spanish artist Salvador Dalí (1904-1989). But things are getting sticky and the production of “Dalí” has recently come to a halt.

The foundation in charge of Dalí’s heritage does not see eye to eye with British director Simon West. The conflict focuses on one particular period of Dalí’s life when, according to the film, people took advantage of his deteriorating mental state.

As Banderas explained:

No están muy de acuerdo con una parte del guión y nuestro director es un británico muy tozudo, cabezón, que no quiere dar su brazo a torcer.

If the flim does come out in time, it will coincide with the opening of two other movies about the crazy Spaniard: “Dalí & I: The Surreal Story” and “Little Ashes.”

All About Salma’s Second Wedding

All the details on Salma Hayek's second wedding

After two months of wedded bliss, it looks like Salma Hayek and husband François-Henri Pinault have finally set the date for wedding #2: this Saturday!

The pair are set to have a larger wedding (you’ll remember they originally got married in a small ceremony in France on Valentine’s Day) this weekend in Venice, and are even paying to fly their guests out for the event.

According to sources, Salma and François-Henri are treating their guests to a weekend’s worth of festivities, capped off by Saturday night’s scheduled ceremony to be held at the historic Palazzo Grassi -the historic palace where the newlyweds first met back in 2006 during a gallery opening.

Some of the noteworthy names on the guest list include best friends Penélope Cruz and Ashley Judd, actor Antonio Banderas and his honky tonk wife Melanie Griffith, brother Sami and mother Diana Jiménez, and even Luis Miguel!

But the real kicker is that, providing entertainment for the night will be none other than Prince, set to sing his song of Salma Hayek devotion: “Valentina.”

Antonio Banderas Honored at San Sebastian

Legendary director Pedro Almodovar came out to present fellow Spaniard Antonio Banderas with the Donostia award at this years San Sebastian International Film Festival.

It was, after all, Almodovar that helped to launch a then unknown Antonio into the public sphere via his “Laberinto de pasiones” in 1982. Look at how adorable he was!

The classically handsome Banderas -with his honky tonk woman, Melanie Griffith, in tow- dedicated his award to his father…

…”el hombre que más me ha querido”

Banderas also took time to throw some praise at virtuoso Javier Bardem

una persona que simplemente no está en venta, un hombre comprometido con su tiempo, su profesion, y su vida personál
