Arlenis & Sessilee Go Gap

Gap Spring/Summer 09 Ad Campaign

Props to the Gap for straying away (somewhat) from boring girls in boring khaki and featuring our two favorite models, Arlenis Sosa and Sessilee Lopez, in their Spring/Summer ‘09 ad campaign!

There’s still an overload of vanilla-on-vanilla going on here, but at least fashion is starting to take small steps in the right direction.

Our Beautiful Arlenis Stays Humble

Arlenis Sosa walking for the Matthew Williamson fashion show this week

As if we didn’t love Arlenis Sosa enough already! The gorgeous dominicana is still respectful of the people who helped her break into the fashion biz.

Most recently, the leggy model gave special thanks to the queen bee of fashion, VOGUE editor Anna Wintour, by saying:

“She invited me to the Met ball with Moises de la Renta, the son of Oscar. I went and she introduced me to Giorgio Armani, George Clooney and Julia Roberts. I met a lot of other people that evening, too — stylists, designers, so many I didn’t know. The next day, Lancôme sent a message to my agency and wanted to meet me. Three weeks later, I had a contract.”

Even though the general consensus is that Anna is a notorious sadist, we’ve got to give her some due respect for flexing her industry muscle in the name of our stunning hermana. After all, she was the one who first had Arlenis grace the pages of ‘Vogue’ in their controversial July article, “Is Fashion Racist?”

Our favorite model, dominicana Arlenis Sosa, was spotted in New York this weekend, gearing up for this week’s Mercedes-Benz Fall Fashion Week, hitting the pre-parties and looking gorgeous the whole time.

No word yet on whether or not this belleza will be walking the runway this season, but be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the fashion highlights we’ve got in store for you later today.

In the meantime, enjoy these pics of Arlenis in New York.

Moving On Up

Arlenis Sosa in New York

Any news is good news when it comes to our dominicana darling Arlenis Sosa. So we were happy to see that the gorgeous model was partying with the big dogs of the fashion industry yesterday.

Arlenis was rubbing elbows with some of the biggest names in the biz at the Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs hosted Tribute to Stephen Sprouse at the Bowery Ballroom in New York.

Also in attendance were styling greats Donna Karan and Patricia Fields. Glad to see our Arlenis is getting to meet such heavy hitters!

The Results Are In…

Daddy Yankee endorsing John McCain was 2008's biggest "Oh HELL No!" moment

We’ve tallied all your votes and topping the list of the year’s biggest chisme was Daddy Yankee’s endorsement of John McCain in the Presidential elections.

When the reggaetonero came out in favor of the Republican candidate, it unleashed a shit storm with all you Lossip readers, especially after Fat Joe put him on blast for it.

Some of you supported Daddy Yankee. Some of you vowed never to buy another DY album again. But for better or worse, El Cangri topped our list this year thanks to hundreds of votes from all of you.

Obviously!

We’ve already stated our undying love for gorgeous dominicana Arlenis Sosa. We adore the fact that she doesn’t look like every other random, confused-looking, anorexic Russian girl high fashion magazines try to cram down our throat.

So it comes as no surprise to us that our beautiful Arlenis was named GLAM.com’s “Model to Watch.” Work has been piling up for this beauty ever since she was “discovered” walking to class in Santo Domingo earlier this year.

This belleza was signed on the spot and has enjoyed non-stop work ever since then, with Arlenis most recently being signed on to be the new face of Lancôme.

Click for more pics of this stunning girl in her shoots for Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and H&M.

We Want More!

In my daily searches to bring you Lossip readers the most recent chisme, photos, and videos from the Latino world, I often get frustrated by the fact that there are so many nasty, pasty, scared-looking messes out there, especially in the modeling world.

Where are our beautiful mujeres? If you ask me, we’re ten times more fabulous than the random Russian girls everyone trips all over one week, and forgets about the next.

I’ll admit that beautiful women are found all over the world. But looking at your average beauty mags, you certainly wouldn’t think so. Honestly, I’d be more likely to read through some of these high fashion magazines if I saw women who looked a little more like me.

So here’s Lossip’s tribute to the devastating beauty of dominicana Arlenis Sosa, featured in the December issue of VOGUE. Click through the other photos from the accessories spread in next month’s issue, and tell me Arlenis isn’t the most fabulous one of them all?
