No doubt Ivy Queen can hold her own amongst the toughest reggaetoneros today, but our props for her end there.
When it comes to belleza, we like our ladies a little less…scary? But for whatever reason, some doll-making exec saw some hidden beauty in this boricua powerhouse:
“…a partir de diciembre estará en el mercado una muñeca hecha a su imagen y que además cantará reggaetón y tendrá las uñas tan largas como la boricua…y que cuenta con un dispositivo musical con las versiones remix de temas como “Que lloren”, “Menor que yo” y “Cuéntale”…la muñeca incluirá además un estuche con accesorios, esmaltes de colores, pelucas y por supuesto, algunos vestidos en miniatura de los diseños que ha lucido en varios de sus conciertos y en alfombras rojas.”
Hmm. Any parents out there, let us know if you think an Ivy Queen doll is something your children would be interested in.
Poor Ivy Queen. First, there were rumors about her being a transvestite. Now, the chisme is circulating on her being a lesbian! Either way, the bad ass reggaetonera hopes that she can set the record straight once and for all with her upcoming autobiography, saying:
“Por esa es la razón que yo quiero escribir este libro, porque la gente a veces se dejan llevar por lo que ven por fuera y no se sientan hablar contigo y conocerte, ¿me entiendes?”
The boricua recently disspelled rumors about her sexual orientation, pointing out that she had been married in the past and has been with her current novio for several years now (although I have no idea who this ‘mystery man’ is).
Though she may be an open champion for GLAAD, Ivy maintains that supporting gay rights and being gay yourself are two different things all together.
Personally, I doubt I’ll ever be bored and/or drunk enough to pick up a copy of Ivy’s book (and if I do, then it’ll probably be on the way to watch Gloria Trevi’s movie), so I need some Lossip feedback to get to the real truth behind it all.
You heard right! No more half-baked rumors a la Shakira and Julieta. This time, there’s truth behind the headline. The bad ass reggaetonera, Ivy Queen, has decided to write her autobiography, “Detrás del Glamour.”
According to sources, her book will chronicle her tumultuous rise to fame as the first real chart-topping mujer in reggaeton.
Of her book and inspiration, Ivy recently said:
El libro que quiero hacer no es en cuestión de bochinche, quiero hacer un libro en cuestión de lo sacrificado que ha sido para mí estar en este trono, que obviamente la gente me ve bella hoy, pero que cuando yo empecé en esta música yo parecía un nene, y jangueaba con nenes, hasta el día de hoy estoy rodeada de hombres, pero quiero que sea más como un libro de motivación de acuerdo a las cosas que yo pasé.
Uh…I’m not really sure what “bochinche” means (is it boricua slang? I don’t know. I’m a mexicana. Sorry), and I’m pretty sure that her statement of “obviamente la gente me ve bella hoy” is a little on the delusion side, but I’m sure most people would agree that, in spite of your own personal opinions about her tranny image and her deep-voiced music, a woman who fought her way into the music biz tooth and 7-inch nail deserves some props.
The fierce female voice behind reggaeton, Ivy Queen, was recently in Miami shooting scenes for her latest music video, “Dime.” That’s all very well and good, but when looking at the pics from her shoot, one thing caught me completely off guard: Ivy Queen actually looks pretty (kind of) for a change!
Gone are her creepy extensions and (most of) her clown whore make up. What we see is a fabulously styled “woman” whose finger nails (almost) don’t give you nightmares. And to think that, all this time, I was half convinced she was a transvestite.
Congratulations tho whoever was in charge of styling this shoot. Clearly, you are (sort of) some kind of miracle worker.
She’s being attacked everywhere and is not for free!
Reggaetonera Ivy Queen is fighting back and llorando everywhere as well instructed by her longtime nemesis Calle 13, like on her recent MTV Tr3s interview. But how strong is her punch? Who knows if her pseudo feminist efforts and tired male-hating antics will save her from Calle 13’s strong lyrics or the Industry’s critical reviews. Empty Beats and alliteration won’t be enough and neither will a new haircut. Nothing a macho-machista male Latino hates more than a tranny fabulous feminista with short hair! Oh, and let’s not forget that she looks 40 (and not like Halle Berry 40, more like Michael Jackson 40!).
Its all-out war between Calle 13 and Ivy Queen! Here’s a little break down of the he-said, she-said battle of the boricuas raging between these musicians.
First Ivy Queen hates on Calle 13’s Latin Grammy wins. Then the boys of Calle 13 call her a hypocrite and dedicate some harsh lyrics of “Q Lloren” to her.
“Hey Ivy I’m going to bring you a razor so you can cut your veins.”
Then Ivy Queen hits back by saying of Residente:
“He doesn’t realize the grave mistake he is making. My 15 year career isn’t going to be tainted by someone that is always on a mushroom trip.”
And to add a little more oomph…
“I am not a hypocrite. I met him and told him what I felt, and later I called him and told him: ‘I don’t know you, you don’t know me. I think it’s disrespectful that you are an alternative music artist and you get up to collect the reggaeton awards using our beat.
Ok, Lossip readers! Aqui, quien tiene la razon? Hit us with your feedback and settle this on-going feud.
We all know that the bad ass boricua deserves props for being one of the few reggaetoneras out there with the big boys. But is there a little somethin’ somethin’ more behind that trademark deep voice and that crazy cuerpaso?
The flamboyant singer has been laughing off accusations of being a gender bender for quite some time now, but perhaps what she really needs to set the record straight is a little public opinion!
An estimated 2 million people celebrated pure Boricua culture in the streets of NYC yesterday, but reggaetoneros like Ivy Queen and Wisin y Yandel jump-started the festivities with an off-the-hook performance in Madison Square Garden on Saturday.
Endless waves of Puerto Rican flags decorated the crowd con mucho orgullo while fans listened to performances by David Bisbal, The D.E.Y., and 50 Cent.
Boricua’s know la patria is still bleeding with pride!

Rockin’ the perfect pair of jeans can make any mujer feel as glamorous as the stylish ‘little black dress’ stashed in her closet. Daisy Fuentes and Ivy Queen were recently seen wearing urban classic looks with a sophisticated touch.
Daisy was captured modeling a retro chic look in dark washed skinny jeans paired with a loose-fitted bright yellow blouse. The chunky white shoes and sunglasses added the final touch of sabor to the red carpet look.
La Caballota added her own classic estilo with a black fitted vest and fuego red tank top paired with gray stretch jeans.
Their calle ready looks are on-point, pero quién luce mejor?
