¿Quién Tiene La Razón?

Paulina Rubio heads to court

“Singer” Paulina Rubio will have to appear in court this coming Tuesday for her failure to come to an amicable settlement with photographer Luz Amanda Orozco.

Apparently, Pau and Luz had a little bit of an “enfrentamiento” back in 2006, during with Luz claims that Pau clocked her with her wallet after trying to take her photograph.

Since then, it has been slow-going for la Chica Dorada, in spite of the fact that Miami courts have already provided her an intermediary to try and settle the case with Luz, mostly because Pau continues to refuse to pay the settlement fine Luz wants her to cough up.

However, as far as Pau’s legal team is concerned, they’re sticking to their guns and trying to prove that Pau acted in self defense. So let’s hear it, Lossip readers. Who do you think tiene la razón in this one?

Inside the Latino Inaugural Gala

Shakira and Jennifer Lopez in Washington D.C.

It looks like Washington D.C. has officially entered a week of non-stop festejando, as the inauguration of Barack Obama inches closer!

Thousands of people are flocking to the capital to be near history in the making, and A-list superestrellas are no different.

This weekend’s Latino inaugural gala, “Celebrando El Cambio,” featured anyone who is anyone. From Shakira and George Lopez, who both spoke at the “We Are One” concert in front of the soon-to-be 44th president, to Obamista fundraisers Paulina Rubio and Alejandro Sanz, to rumored “opportunists” Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez.

Though most of the party seemed to mysteriously revolve around Marc and Jenny’s cell phone, I think its fair to say that most of us would have loved to have been rubbing elbows with these celebs.

Click to see more of the gala, and see if you spot your favorite Obamista.

Latinos Party for Obama

Performers for the "Gala Latina" in Washington D.C.

With Barack Obama’s inauguration just weeks away, preparations for some of the biggest parties D.C. will ever see are already in the works.

The “Gala Latina,” scheduled to be held on January 18th, will feature some of the biggest names amongst the Obamistas, and will  boast an eclectic musical mix of artists celebrating this historic victory.

Some of the musicians already booked for the gala include Paulina Rubio, Marc Anthony, Alejandro Sanz, Lila Downs, Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano, and Cucu Diamantes & Yerba Buena.

According to Esther Aguilera, the president of the Comité Hispano del Congreso, the gala will definitely be something to remember:

Es inspirador tener tantos artistas latinos talentosos que desean unirse para festejar al presidente número 44 de nuestra nación, el honorable Barcak Obama, y el papel histórico que los latinos desempeñaron en esta elección. Esta será una verdadera demostración de los aportes musicales y culturales que nuestra comunidad puede ofrecer.”

What I wouldn’t give to get on that guest list!

Pau’s Golden Perfume

The latest in a long line of superestrellas to launch their own celebrity perfume, singer Paulina Rubio has decided that her new fragrance, “Oro,” will hit the stores next March.

La Chica Dorada’s aptly named perfume is said to be:

“…un elegante arreglo floral oriental de cítricos burbujeantes, realzado por granos de café expreso, condimentado con fragancias florales y endulzado por un toque de vainilla.”

Now, if they just added splash of scandal, a touch of mixed up fashion sense, and just a hint of a vocal synthesizer, then that perfume would totally be all Pau!

But, to be fair, her logic behind it does sound pretty decent.

That’s sweet. But is it sweet enough to tempt some of you to want to buy this perfume? Tell us what you think, Lossip readers.

Estilo Hit or Miss?

There are so many times when a celeb pushes the envelope in the name of fashion, thinking they look fabulous, only to end up looking mildly crazy and a little insane.

That is the case with Paulina Rubio, who walked the red carpet for the Muestra Filmográfica de Cine Español 2008 yesterday in Mexico City.

From the hips up, La Chica Dorada had me convinced that she had chosen to keep her ensemble chic and sexy…and then I saw her legs. Not just shiny, but glittery, purple, panty hose. I haven’t seen these since the first grade when my mom let me dress myself. Sorry, Pau. It didn’t work on me then, and its not working for you now.

Is Verástegui in Denial?

After el mitotero de Eduardo Verástegui came out against abortion, and gay marriage, and formally announced his support of Republican presidential candidate John McCain, the general consensus (here on Lossip, and in the streets) was that this fool was pretty much just an idiot.

Recently, it has been rumored that La Chica Dorada, Paulina Rubio -who just happens to be a loud and proud Obamista- referred to Verástegui as “ignorante” during an interview with a Mexican radio station.

But apparently, Verástegui refuses to believe that Pau would say such a thing, telling Escándalo TV:

“Ella es una dama y una gran amiga. Me ha ayudado en mi carrera, hasta a promover la película ‘Bella.’ No creo que ella haya hablado de mí, ni de nadie.”

Well, even if Pau didn’t actually say he’s ignorant, that certainly won’t keep me from doing it! And, according to you Lossip readers, being in denial about Pau’s comments isn’t the first thine this pretty boy won’t admit to…could it be true that this hombrecito is hiding a mad hot man love behind his homophobic mantras?

Paulina Celebrates Sweet 16

They don’t call her La Chica Dorada for nothing! Music veteran Paulina Rubio is currently busy in the studio working on her upcoming album “Pausión,” keeping an unusually low profile as she labors away on her music.

Paulina’s latest CD is set to drop at the end of the year in order to celebrate Paulina’s sixteen years as a solo artist and will feature a collaboration with Alex Syntek on the single, “Un día normal.”

For all her fame and success, I still have my doubts about Pau. Her voice is…ehh. And a lot of her songs are little more than synthecized dance beats with some random vocalization in the background. But still, those are still some good beats.

What do you all think? Will “Pausión” be worth a listen? Or is it destined to another Paulina flop?

Obamista Revolution Hits YouTube

The growing number of A-list Obamistas* have decided to take their crusade to the internet, uniting musicians, actors, and comedians in a joint attempt to secure the ever-elusive but all-powerful Latino vote for Democratic candidate, Barack Obama.

This time, they have joined forces under acclaimed music producer Andres Levin and directors from Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Chicago and Puerto Rico to put out “Podemos con Obama,” a musical call to action urging Latinos from all walks of life to come together and elect Obama this coming November.

And the featured superestrellas are definite heavy hitters. George Lopez, Jessica Alba, Paulina Rubio, Alejandro Sanz, Lila Downs, Kate del Castillo, Don Omar, John Leguizamo, and the musical voices of “Yerba Buena” were just some on the boisterous list of 23 featured in the video.

Foreign born, or American born; reggaetonero or soulful balladeer; mexicano, colombiano, puertoriqueño, español; and everything in between! What these Latinos want to stress is their common aim.

Click to watch the simple yet heartfelt campaign of the Obamistas. Seriously, it brought tears to my eyes! I wonder when we’ll see a rebuttal from McCain supporters. It can star Daddy Yankee and Heidi from “The Hills.”

*Obamista (noun): a Latino who not only supports Sen. Barack Obama in the 2008 Presidential election, but tells their friends, their compadres, their comadres, their primos, their novios, their neighbors, their co-workers, and even strangers to vote for Barack Obama as well. They likely wear pimped out Obama t-shirts, deck their car out with “Latinos for Obama” bumper stickers, and are probably organizing an election day block party where calls of “Si Se Puede” and “Viva Obama” will ring out all through the night.

Is Paulina the Next Angelina?

Update: We had already mentioned Chica Dorada, Paulina Rubio, was desperately trying to get knocked-up by hubby Nicolás Vallejo and that she had become a fertilization expert.

It seems that now the birds and the bees might be coming in a private jet!

According to TV y ESPECTACULOS, the couple has decided to look into adopting.

Regardless, Rubio stated she’d like to be a mom the old fashioned-way first, if she can.

I hope Paulina doesn’t forget to ask Angelina Jolie’s permission before going adoption-crazy or she will have no babies left to bring home.

Paulina Rubio’s Post-Party Brunch

After spending the night at Marc Anthony’s 40th birthday party in New York, singer Paulina Rubio woke the next morning to spend her day shopping and eating with friends (and by the looks of those enormous sunglasses, she may also have been nursing one hell of a hangover).

La Chica Dorada was spotted strolling around in the Big Apple yesterday before stopping at the restaurant Le Billoquete for some almuerzo.
